This review will be short, because I don't want to rehash the publisher's summary or give anything away. However, this is definitely the "wow" thriller of 2019. It has police procedural and supernatural elements, but Alex North holds tight to what is truly important. The Whisper Man is a wonderful story of flawed-but-sympathetic men doing their best, of loss and grief, of families, and of some truly frightening people who hide in plain sight. It is fantastically frightening, especially when suspects are questioned and the reader is allowed glimpses into unwell minds. Like a great meal, it contains many tasty elements and took a long time to prepare, but is made to be devoured quickly.

Thanks to Celadon Press for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
