This book tells the story of Featherbank, a town that has experienced great tragedy and trauma at the hands of The Whisper Man: a serial killer who twenty years ago murdered five young boys. Cut to today, and another boy has gone missing. The Whisper Man is in prison, so who is responsible for this new round of horror?

This story is incredible, and the writing is very well done. The chapters are short, rotate between perspectives, and are paced in a perfect way to keep you holding your breath and wanting to understand more. The storyline and atmosphere of the book are just spooky enough to make you feel ill at ease, but not so scary that I was afraid to read. I loved the glimmers of reference to paranormal wonderings, the gradual unfolding of explanations, and the ending. There are elements of the story (the butterflies, the prison visits to a serial killer) that echo The Silence of the Lambs, but the story feels fresh, creative, and different than anything I've read before.
