I'm not sure if I like the writing, but I can be forgiving if the plot is one that interests me, and this one is. I really want to see where the story goes. But one of my pet peeves is when an author writes from the perspective of a child or even just a child's dialogue and clearly has no clue what a child would do or say. Jake, the boy in this book, could be anywhere from four to twelve years old based on how he was written.
