The Whisper Man starts off with a letter from a father to his son that says so much while giving almost nothing away. The set-up here is wonderfully tension-building. It can be a little disconcerting as the reader to flit back and forth in time without any visual markers on the page, but it adds a little bit to the suspense aspect of everything that is happening. There's enough procedural information about child abductions and how they are handled by the police to give the DI's perspective's credence without overwhelming the reader with bureaucracy. The cover is seriously creepy and I can't wait to see this one hit the shelves. I think my library patrons are going to clamor for this title when it comes out.
