The Wedding Date has all the makings of a great modern love story. Boy meets girl in an elevator.
Elevator breaks down. Boy and girl are trapped in elevator. Chemistry ensues. Boy invites girl to be his fake girlfriend at the wedding he is in town to attend.

The first few chapters were fantastic. Great chemistry and banter. Both characters are intelligent, career-oriented individuals. The fact that they are an interracial couple adds another layer of complexity.

But once the story shifted to focusing on a long distance romance the book sort of fell flat for me. There was a lot of focus on eating (doughnuts, pastries, taco's, enchilada's, etc) and fade to black sex scenes. That seemed to be all their relationship consisted of. Rinse and repeat. Every so often there would be a miscommunication that lead to unnecessary fighting. Ultimately I was left bored and found myself skimming the last 100 pages.
