I first read an excerpt of "The Wedding Date" and then received an advanced readers' copy of the book free of charge. The premise is cute and I do love the diversity of the main characters and that the women have high-powered successful careers. When I was reading the excerpt, I noticed that the dialogue was stilted and artificial. I can say that, having read the whole book, this issue gets better as it goes along. But the book is 320 pages and, by my estimation, that's about 100 pages too long. Most of the stumbling blocks for the characters wouldn't be issues at all if they'd just talk to one another. There were multiple times I wanted to yell at the characters, "COMMUNICATE! COMMUNICATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A RELATIONSHIP!!!" Most of their problems are only problems in their own minds and become bigger issues because they just don't talk to each other. There's at least 100 pages of "we can't be together because of X issue" where X issue is something that could be resolved with a quick conversation. So, while I was invested in the characters and their story, I probably wouldn't recommend this book.
