The Wedding Date was Jasmine Guillory’s debut novel and a thoroughly enjoyable read. It was light, fun, and very flirty. When you meet the man of your dreams in an elevator and agree to be his fake girlfriend for a wedding, what can possibly go wrong?
The story is a tiny bit predictable, but not in a bad way. More in the way that you can guess what’s going to happen but you really hope it’s all going to work out for the main characters. Guillory definitely keeps you turning the pages and rooting for the strong, Black, female lead all the way through.
Jasmine’s next book The Proposal has been getting a lot of press the last few months and is an equally fun read, although I might have actually enjoyed The Wedding Date slightly more. Guillory is definitely going to be an auto-buy author for me from now on and I definitely recommend you give this one a go!
