so cute and charming! absolutely in love

This book has been recommended to me, a budding romance reader, by so many people, and the author is an alum of my first choice college, so I absolutely had to give it a try. I was most definitely not disappointed! The cover is why I was initially drawn to it, it reminds me of The Night Circus, probably because of the gorgeous colors. I absolutely fell in love with the premise - I love the trope of chance encounters and meet-cutes in media and this was definitely no exception. My only dislike about the book was DREW. I was rooting so hard for Alexa the whole time and Drew was a jerk who absolutely does not deserve her and most of all needs to check his GD privilege. I think Guillory is a great writer, and I was drawn to Alexa's struggles as a black woman with an important career, but Drew just felt like another obstacle in her life to me. That being said, I loved the magic of this novel and I've heard her writing only improves from here, so I will be revisiting her work again for sure!
