This book tells the cute story of two characters, Drew and Alexa, who meet in an elevator in the midst of a power outage the day before Drew's ex's wedding. On a whim Alexa agrees to attend the wedding with Drew as his fake date, thinking that nothing will come of it. Before she knows it, however, the two are enjoying one another's company far more than expected and can't help but agree to spend more time together in the future. What follows is a sweet, sometimes steamy, honest look at the challenges of falling in love while living long-distance and navigating an interracial relationship.
What I loved about this book was that it offered both Drew and Alexa's perspectives in turn, putting a face on the confusion, joy, and fear of new love. It was a quick read and wasn't always very plot-driven, but it was sweet and for that I am glad.
