I rarely, if ever, stop reading a book once I start. Especially when a great deal of the reviews truly enjoyed it for the most part. I started this as an audio and while I liked the narrator, I didn't think she was a good fit for the story. I switched to reading and still felt a disconnect to the writing, characters, and story arc.

I always enjoy a witty and fun meet-cute and this story had that. This led to an invite to a wedding as the hero's "fake" date. The date is real, but the prior relationship of the hero and heroine is indeed fake and for "show." After this fun beginning, the story delved into "been-there/done-that" romance territory with redundant insecurities by the heroine - comparing herself to others, why is he with me, he could have anyone? This was not congruent with her education, profession and what the author was trying to tell me through her successful career. I want a heroine who owns her confidence. Sure, some insecurities are fine. We all have them on occasion, but move on and stop telling me the same thing over and over. I couldn't finish.
