Love the characters but a bit slow in the middle

Three and a half stars, rounded up for the realistic depiction of relationships, an interracial couple, a woman who eats/enjoys eating/is not stick thin but does not obsess about her weight, a woman who is clearly intelligent and capable, and the acknowledgment of racial inequality without beating us over the head with it.

Clearly, lots of good things going on. The tension between Alexa and Drew in the first third of the book was fantastic, especially through the wedding. I loved both characters, and the entire book made me hungry.

Unfortunately, after the wedding, it seemed the only reason they weren't together was a lack of communication, and it lost my interest somewhat. I'm not a huge fan of problems that could be solved by just sitting down and having a good conversation.

Still enjoyed the book overall though, and I definitely plan on continuing this series!
