“The Wedding Date” has been on my tbr list for ages – partially because I love the whole “fake-to-real dating” trope, partially because I love an interracial romance, and partially because it was ALL. OVER. BOOKSTAGRAM. But, I found time to read it this weekend – and I’m so glad that I finally made the time because THIS BOOK WAS SO CUTE.
Quick synopsis for those who hadn’t read/heard of this book: Girl gets stuck in an elevator with a guy who needs a date to his ex-girlfriend’s wedding THAT SAME WEEKEND. Girl and guy flirt. Guy asks girl to be his wedding date. Girl agrees. Girl and guy have fun and have a ton of chemistry – but will this stay a one-weekend-only type of deal or into some sort of “happily ever after?”
So, I LOVED that Alexa was curvy and confident yet insecure and just so REAL. I’ve definitely felt like Alexa before, so it was nice to have a female lead who was just SO relatable. And Drew was cute too – even if he was a bit stupid at times. Also loved when Alexa would just SHUT. HIS. WHITE. PRIVILEGE. DOWN. Yaas Kween! Highly recommended – it’s just a cute, quick, fun, and slightly emotional read!
