The book is a romance book which I knew right ooff the bay, but I still read it. For me, romance is not a desirable aspect in a book and is definitely among my favorite genres, so I’m not surprised that I didn’t really like the book. It was a bit frustrating how some of the couples issues could have been solved if only they talked to each other, which seems to be a common device to move the plot forward and create more of the icky romance stuff. I did like how it touched on white privilege and similarly important themes. I liked how the book delved into Alexs’s own private life and have it more than just a surface mention. I learned a lot just from that. But overall, it’s a great book if you like romance, but if you don’t then you might still enjoy it, or parts of it.
