Lacking Romance

I’m at very in the middle with this book. It was very so so for me. I did enjoy it. It was not a bad read. I just never connected fully with the characters or their romance which the romance was the whole point of the story. It did have its steamy parts which to me was much needed, and the ending was super cute.

But as stated previously the story in general was lackluster, both the characters and their romance... to me it was sad when the minor characters were better written than the major ones. Alexa constantly putting herself down internally and comparing herself to the other women for old... I mean Drew can keep his hands off her but all she could think about was how her stomach wasn’t flat or her thighs smaller... in a world where women need more empowerment, the author failed at this even though I am pretty sure that is what she was trying to do... also why are looks so important? I mean Alexa was a smart woman with an important job but it kept constantly going back to looks and weight!

Then I also got put off with the race thing, and when I say this I do not mean having a romance between different races but the fact that the author kept pointing it out. Like having Alexa asking if there were going to be other black people there... come on it’s 2020 white people can have black friends and vice versa! Okay rant over 😂

Overall just an okay book....
