Good Premise
This is a contemporary fiction read with shades of romantic comedy. There is much to enjoy about this book, beginning with the charming cover that opens to a delicious and charming meet-cute between Alexa and Drew in a hotel elevator that gets stuck between floors.
It was refreshing to read an interracial couple presented in such a natural way. In fact, there is a realistic presentation of racial diversity throughout the book.
I found the beginning of the book delightful, but the middle began to feel tedious with an unsatisfying long distance relationship comprised of a loop of weekend visits of sex, eating, and unhappiness. This overshadowed some promising plot threads and secondary characters that I wanted to know more about. However, the last part of story steered back to the charm and romance that was established at the beginning.
