A classic romcom story, The Wedding Date promises to be an easy, entertaining read. Based on the first couple of chapters, I don't know how many surprises to expect, but sometimes all you want from a romance is diversion (even if you're pretty sure you know how it's going to go).

Alexa's relationship with her sister is interesting, and I hope that it's developed more as the story goes on.

The writing is readable, though at times I could feel the effort behind it—insert expository statement about main character here, crack a joke to establish chemistry there, etc. It's hard to judge based only on an excerpt but I wanted a little more from the side characters, who at this point feel more like caricatures than real people.

That aside, this seems like the perfect book to toss in your beach bag this summer!
