Elevator Meet Cute Develops into Something More

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory is a light hearted romance featuring an unlikely couple with surprisingly good chemistry. The novel is a take on the "main character needs a date to an ex's wedding" trope, but the relationship develops further than either Drew (the hunky pediatric surgeon with a history of commitment phobia) or Alexa (the smart but somewhat insecure mayor's assistant) expect. The situation is further complicated by the geographic distance between the couple, as Drew works at a hospital in Los Angeles and Alexa works for the mayor of San Francisco. The author does a good job of keeping the reader engaged in the couple's antics and angst, with some rather romantic interludes and a large number of steamy bedroom encounters. A fun read when you need to escape reality for a bit!
