Let me start by saying that I am a mystery/thriller reader. I read them almost exclusively, and when I do divert from my norm, I almost never seek out romance or rom-com novels. This book is absolutely the exception, and for that matter so is this author. She is phenomenal, and I have continued to tear through the other books she has put out. I read this book in one day and was unable to put it down.
Guillory's characters are charming and fall in love with one another for all of the right reasons (character, intellect, etc). This book does get a bit steamy on several occasions, but I thought it was well written and didn't give me the horrible internal cringe that some sexier novels have done in the past.
