I read a lot of thrillers and books with serious storylines and dramatic turn of events. So when I had the chance to read this one, I jumped at the chance figuring it would be a good escape and palate cleanser.

It was exactly that. We meet two characters, Alexa, who works for the Berkeley mayor and hopes to effect policy change. Drew, who lives near LA, is a doctor. The book opens with them literally meeting on an elevator. The author did a good job of developing the characters and I felt they both spoke how I would expect. Was the dialogue cheesy at times? Yes. But I had to expect that in this type of book.

It was a predictable story with some ups and some downs and plenty of romance. Fans of Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game will be sure to enjoy it. But it was a nice refreshing break I needed and I sped through the story quickly.

My thanks to her publisher and BookishFirst for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
