This is a perfectly acceptable romance novel, but after all of the hype (five stars from Roxane Gay!) it was a bit of a let-down. A cute story, with a memorable female lead, the male lead could have used a little personality to match though. I loved the featuring of characters of color, and not just as side-kicks, as well as the complicated sisterly dynamic, but in the end just not my sleeve of crackers and cheese.
