What drew me to this book was the cover. I totally judge books by their covers. I don't usually go in for romance, but the synopsis sounded fun and, as I said, I really liked the cover art. This one starts out as a pretty standard romantic story. Two strangers stuck in an elevator hit it off. And I have to say, the dialogue seems pretty stilted. I had to read a few sentences a couple of times before I parsed them out. And there are a lot of repetitive verbal tics on the part of the characters. But one of my favorite features in a book is when a story is told from multiple perspectives, so that we get to see how more than one character perceived a situation. This book has that going for it. I also like that the main female characters are fully-imagined women of color with powerful careers. Other than that, I'm not sure it's any more than your standard romance with some humor thrown in.
