From the first couple of chapters, Ava seems like the stereotypical engineer who prefers a structured life. Her new work colleague/boss, Mat, appears to be a feel-good, touchy-feely cheerleading manager looking to up the positivity morale in the office.
From their first meeting until the excerpt ended, Ava would prefer to keep Mat at arm's length, but he seems eager to share something with her. From the description, it appears they'll enter into a romance, but it's hard to see how they'll get there from the first couple of chapters. It would have been nice to include the ride home where we, the readers, could see how Ava would respond to him one-on-one.
A lot of the excerpt described all the company's products by name, all with a positive spin so I'm hoping the story doesn't include renaming their product line. Having worked in a corporate environment, there's such a thing as being overwhelmed with too much positivity, especially if the company wasn't like that when you joined. Hoping that doesn't detract from the story itself.
