The satire of this story appears quickly. Anyone who has worked in a modern office environment will recognize so many elements in exaggerated form. The somewhat mindless-sounding work, the company gossip system, and, later, the promise of "positive" training sessions.
I really enjoyed some of the tart phrases from Ava's perspective, such as "She had the warmth of disinfectant spray."
The selection leaves one wondering what exactly is going on with the new boss and his attraction to Ava, who is so locked into the "boxes" of her life, both the literal ones she designs and the ones into which she had placed and defined herself. So I found it difficult to know exactly where the plot was headed--to comedy or tragedy?
