So much of modern life has been engineered and optimized. Clickbait features headlines about the best way to ____, insert almost anything. I like that this novel questions this new way of thinking that everything new is better.
As a fan of Ikea I can also see the humor and absurdity of how extreme it can be. I think this novel would be refreshing on that theme.
What is lost in all of this engineered optimization is human connection. Sometimes human preferences aren't logical or efficient. Just ask any 4 year old and you will quickly learn that lesson as I have found.
