I have Astrid's first book, Four Dead Queens, I just haven't read it yet! This was a little bit of a different take on dystopia. This is the first one I've read that where the setting was basically in the water. All water. There are no cities on land but rather all these reefs that float around. Our main character is a young girl named Tempe whose family has passed away. Most recently was her older sister Elysea.

There is a scientific complex called Palindromena and for a fee, people can revive a lost one for 24 hours. Tempe has been diving to earn enough money to revive Elysea and finally she has enough.

On paper, this book sounds amazing. However, the execution didn't work for me. I'm not sure why I was unable to really connect with Tempe and feel any sort of empathy for what she is going through. I really wanted to love this one, but it fell flat for me.
