Astrid Scholte has cemented her place as one of my favorite authors with The Vanishing Deep! The aquatic setting was a refreshing (pun intended) change from the many other books I’ve read recently! Scholte’s ability to weave mystery into her sci-fi/fantasy books makes them extremely engaging, and near impossible to put down! The stakes are supremely high for each character and every action is clearly motivated. I also quite enjoyed the dual perspective in The Vanishing Deep, as it heightens the story by giving it two sides.
My Recommendation-
If you think that sci-fi could use a bit more mystery interwoven, or if you love the high stakes of a thriller, The Vanishing Deep will be perfect for you! This book would also be great you love the ocean and unique settings! I personally loved the sibling bond shown in the narrative, and would recommend this to fans of Atlantia by Allie Condie!
