This is a story of two girls and how the death of those closest to them could change their lives.
Tempest’s sister has died from drowning, and now after two years of grieving her grief has turned into anger and she is determined to bring her sister back…as to why though, we the readers, are not quite sure. She makes her living off of diving for old Relics from the Old World that was lost due to the Great Waves. Everything that was buried under the waves has been claimed by the ocean creating a beautiful world of corals and reefs.
Lor works in the factory that revives those lost to death, she seems to have her own interesting relationship with death as she believes herself to be the cause of her best friend dying after a climbing accident.
It sounds like a twist on WaterWorld, I am excited to see how the story unfolds. I like the aspect of science bringing things back to life, f only for 2hours, instead of the normal trope of magic. It is refreshing for a YA novel.
Despite the cover’s picture the main character is a person of color, she has “olive skin”.
