Only having read a few pages of the available excerpt, I was immediately intrigued by the premise, the descriptive and mysteriously dark writing. This is my first sample of Astrid Scholte's writing, and I was thoroughly impressed by her description of sound, the visuals, the world this novel is set in. The cover instantly drew me in and I was not disappointed by the description or the sample I read. I am anticipating reading more of this novel and Scholte's other works.
