I have never read a book from this author (although I have heard of her) and this is the first time I heard about this book. The concept of a society where people can pay to bring back their dead for 24 hours was really unique and interesting. There is an entirely new world built here, as the world as we know it is gone, and instead, there are only a number of islands and a whole lot of water! The setting, while also unique, was the only thing that I was not as interested in. Yes, the water world depicted here was built really well, but it made this feel like a dystopian/post-apocalyptic book which I have not been in the mood for lately. Since most of the excerpt focuses on the world, I was unsure if I want to continue reading the book. BUT the concept of the resurrection of the dead is so intriguing! And I get the feeling that the mystery of the sister will take center strange in the rest of the book, which does interest me! I am really interested in the sister (when she is revived for the 24 hours, does she know that she is dead?) and I want to see her perspective!
