I was a huge fan of Scholte's debut, Four Dead Queens, so I was excited to hear about her sophomore title. The reader was immediately introduced to Tempe, who is looking to resurrect her older sister two years after her death. The "Great Wave" has plunged the world into a vast ocean with islands, most of which are owned by corporations, while people are forced to eek out a living by diving in Old World ruins or fishing. The reader also gets a sneak peek at Lor, who hides in the "aquarium" - the death depository. Blaming himself for his best friend's death, he hides from the rest of the world. Reluctantly, Lor offers to take his friend, Ray's place as Warden to oversee a revival so Ray can get the medical help he needs to hopefully repair his foot. I liked the introduction to this world, and its characters. I cannot wait to find out what happens to Tempe and Lor.
