From the short pages that I read, The Vanishing Deep looks to be a lush, beautifully descriptive, cleverly plotted, triumph of genre-bending. One thing Scholte does with mastery is blending science fiction and fantasy with a deft and nuanced hand: this is another success. I LOVED this first look and am SO excited to read the rest of this book!
