A Great Briny Beginning
The first bit of this book is really intriguing as I have read a few ocean-themed books this year like House of Salt and Sorrows and After the Flood. I like the pacing of the story and even in the short passage, I was able to get a feel for Tempe’s drive and determination to get her sister revived. It’s definitely not out of sister solidarity, but out of a hunger for the truth.
The explanation of the important parts of this post-wave world was helpful and gives a lot of set-up for story progression. I’m curious to see how Lor fits in long-term and what the true purpose of Palindromena is.
For the cover, I feel like it could have been darker/more tense. The coloring of it makes it come off more like a contemporary than a mystery. Personally, I don’t think it matches the story.
