This book is beautiful, heartbreaking, and thrilling. It reminds us that family is important, but sometimes family is also fallible.
This is a story about three brothers. Two are twins. One gets drafted and goes to Vietnam where he dies. The other (who was born a few minutes after his twin, and past midnight) missed the draft. He joined voluntarily after his brother's death. You'll have to read the book to discover all the various reasons why. Jason (the second of the twins) returns from the war a very different person. He has many issues. His parents do not want him interacting with his younger brother, Gibby.
Gibby has had a very restricted life since one brother's death and the other brother's voluntarily leaving for the war. He wants to get to know his brother. As they spend time together, many things happen that serve to ignite an explosion of major proportions.
This book was a work of art. The characters were so realistic, I believe I would recognize them in a crowd. This is a definite must-read!!
