"The Unwilling," by John Hart is a fantastic novel full of surprising plot twists, fascinating characters and authentic story-telling. John Hart is a new writer to me, but I will certainly be reading more of his novels! His writing is straight-forward, engaging and easy to follow. He is a master at developing the characters in the book, carefully peeling away the layers of each one until arriving at the core of their being. The story centers around the complicated and multi-faceted war veteran, Jason French, but is told from the perspective of his younger brother, Gibby. Driven apart by war, complicated family dynamics, misunderstandings and resentment, will these brothers survive X's scheming and manipulation to see another day? Read it, you won't be disappointed.
