“The Tubman Command” by Elizabeth Cobbs is a fascinating look at Harriet Tubman in a different role than the Underground Railroad. This historical fiction novel centers around Harriet Tubman’s time as a spy and scout for the Union army during the Civil War. Well told and very interesting. I particularly liked the epigrams at the beginning of each chapter which were taken from actual historical documents. Be sure to read the author’s notes at the end to gain insight into her research to understand what is fact and what she included as a fictionalized account of some events.
