As in other works, Elizabeth Cobbs is a master at bringing both characters and the time period to light. We learned of both Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad in school, but not like this. Ms Tubman steps off the page, insisting we partake in her journey and understand her plight. This is historical fiction at its very best!
