This book sounds delightfully creepy!

The cover reminds me of the old Goosebumps novels by RL Stine, so of course I'm interested. Those books were some of my favorites growing up. I've been trying to get my hands on this book for over a month. So far, no luck, but I was happy to read the excerpt! It reminds me of the Haunting of Sunshine Girl. It's also queer with a POC main character. What more could a person want? Other than to read the entire thing, of course. So far, I'm much enjoying Jake's voice and the surroundings. I have a weakness for things set at prep and boarding schools. There's something about the atmosphere that gets to me and draws me in. Jake's powers throw a new twist into the classic school tale and it sounds like they're definitely going to cause some problems, hopefully nothing too deadly because I already like Jake so much. I hope he gets his happy ending but I'm here for the angst all the same.
