I really was excited when I read the excerpt of this one. I loved the main character, Jake, and the beginning parts of the story with him being attacked by Sawyer Doon.
I won the ARC and was thrilled to have a chance to read the whole thing.
I just....didn't like it.
The switching every other chapter to Sawyer's diary entries really took me out of the story and I really didn't see a reason to try to make me feel bad for a school shooter. I liked the relationship between Jake and Allister but really wanted it to be more fleshed out.
Maybe I'm too old to keep reading YA but this just grab me enough that I almost stopped reading halfway through a few times.
I loved the concept, I loved Jake, but I just wanted more.
That being said, I would read more about this character.
