I have just recently gotten into spookier books. The taking of Jake Livingston was one of my first spooky books that I have read and I really enjoyed the aspect of the ghost theme. I enjoyed reading in swayer and Jakes point of view however this book does touch on a lot of dark topics. Such as sexual assault, child abuse, self harm, school shootings, racism, and much more.
Even though this book has dark aspects I think the author did a good job on telling the story and relaying what was going on. I did have a few moments where I was shocked while I was reading it! This book kept me on my toes the whole time and had me captivated from the first chapter. I will be recommending this book to my niece and nephews as long as my friends children! As well as some of my adult friends.
