This story is about a high school junior named Jake who can see the dead. He is a quiet, lonely boy and I believe this is because he sees things no child should see. The book contains some scary situations so i would recommend an older teen for this book. I loved the writing style and the suspense in the story. I found myself wanting to read the next chapter. The dynamic of the characters in the book interact well and you want to know more about them.
This story is told in the first person so if that bothers you, you might not enjoy it. I did at times find it hard to follow due to the flashbacks in some chapters. I also would liked to have had some additional background on the main character to understand some of his thoughts. This is the reason for the four star review. Overall, I enjoyed the first look at this book.
