From the moment I met Jake I fell in love with him and his story. The more I read about his life and the spirits that invade his world, the more I was captivated!

This book was so poignant and wove very real, terrible truths everyone must face in our world with a cool fantasy/horror story. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way! I couldn’t believe the feeling of reading the school shooting “drill” - this is now real life!! And the scenes with his dad made me want to cry for the unfairness of it all.

Sawyer too was a misunderstood kid who had a life no one deserves. However, he took that life and his terrible experiences, and turned into something evil. Jake thankfully was able to turn his into something beautiful.

I was so delighted with Jake’s friends standing by him and his budding romance with Alistair was fantastic! His reconciliation with his family was a wonderful surprise.

Now I need a sequel that will explain what the fallout with Sawyer’s uncle will be! I was waiting for that hammer to fall all through the nail biting conclusion. Until then I will be in my happy place cheering Jake & Alistair on.
