I absolutely loved the writing of this sample. The Taking of Jake Livingston reminds me of Spontaneous by Aaron Stamer with it's unique premise. I love seeing a Black teenage boy at the front and center of this story. The ability to see people slowly fading from life sounds fascinating and disturbing. Ryan Douglass is a voice that should not be missed and I'm so excited for their debut Young Adult novel.
