The reader is immediately plunged into Jake's world - a somewhat isolated one, full of ghosts and ostracizing students and teachers at school, and both about equally bad. The tension begins immediately, and I was interested in learning what the deal with Sawyer was. Sometimes I got a little mixed up with the many tiny time-skips, but I expect they would become less jarring as you kept reading.
