The cover grabbed my attention first. As a woman of color and mom to children of color I love to find books with people that look like us. The story had me hooked. I'm an adult (I swear I am 😂) and I wanted to get the book for my 14 and 17 year olds but I'm going to read it too.
I like Ryan's writing style. It is very easy to read and relate to. I felt like I was talking to one of my best friends when I read it. Being the only black girl in my private school from 1st-8th grade....I could relate to Jake and I can't wait to read more about him. The paranormal aspect made it even more appealing. I'm seriously excited about this book. Plus, it comes out on my son's birthday (July 13th). 💗
