This book checked a lot of boxes for me. I want to read more books by authors of color this year and more books with LGBTQ+ rep. This book has both of these options. On top of that we have a young medium who doesn't like his powers. I mean it has to be pretty horrible seeing people relive their death over and over again; happier memories would be one thing, but seeing your death over and over again sucks. I wouldn't want to see someone else's death. I feel like this book will also deal and talk about school shootings which is something I think would be interesting to see how Douglass handles the heavy topic.
That cover is really creepy and instantly pulled me in. I'm guessing those are Sawyer's hands coming out behind Jake. I want to see what Sawyer's sinister plans are and see how everything plays out. Depending on how Douglass handles the rest of this book I could see this as the start of a series.
