when I saw the cover and title I was very excited, I love sushi and a book about it would be amazing. it started off making some sense, I enjoyed the beautiful descriptions and the way the reader feels like they are the main character. I was a little bit taken aback by the way the Japanese character was portrayed. I felt like the decision to have him wear a kimono and give chopsticks may give people the idea that Japanese people are nothing more than that. besides that, I enjoyed the main characters' inner dialogue and how you could never really tell if things were really happening or just a figment of his imagination. I think that this book is pretty good if you want a challenge. if you are somebody who loves to analyze text and decode metaphors this book is for you.
