First off, I would like to mention that this book was a bright spot in my day. The Sunshine Mind really overflowed with the bright, happy, motivating optimism that the author's are known for. It came through their words clearly, and brought a smile to my face. I feel like these two lovely ladies are warm, genuine people, who truly care about each and every person who picks up this book. They are approachable, but they don't shy away from the truth. They have the best intentions behind every piece of advice given in throughout the book. I think they succeeded at motivating people to be a light. I don't know how someone could go through this devotional and not have an optimistic look at life afterwards.

That being said, it didn't quite have enough Scriptural references for me to call it a devotional. It felt like more of a self-help book. However, I actually think it may have worked for it. Some of the days did provide more than just the beginning Bible verse, but a lot of them were just advice. It's good advice, don't get me wrong. I just would have liked to see a bit more Scripture and focus on God.

I do think the book touched on a lot of Christian behaviors. As Christians, we should be spreading love to those around us, serving them, doing good things. The book talked about that a lot, which I really think is needed in this day and age. Reading one of these a day pushes you to really think about those around you and how you interact with others. We all have things we should do more. Perhaps we need to step out of our comfort zone in order to make a deference. This book motivates you to do that in a gentle, friendly manner. It never felt condemning or judgmental, everything was spoken in love,

I really think this book is well worth a read, and a reread. Each day is short enough that you can pick it up and read it in no time. Especially, when you are in need of something to bring a little light into the moment and encourage you. A lot of the days lessons spoke to me and gave me a different perspective on things. As with all devotionals, somethings speak to different people, I think this book has a lot of different things that will appeal to a broad range of women.

I think this book could easily be a blessing to anyone who reads it. There was so much to love about it. I truly think each time you read it you will have certain lessons that jump out to you. It has a lot of different topics, but all with a focus on being a positive influence to those around you.
