This is a combination of some of my favorite things from the 2000s and 2010s. It combines the quick and likeable characters of Percy Jackson and the competition aspects of the Hunger Games with all the heart pounding moments with LGBTQ+ fully developed characters! Sign me up!! I love fantasy for the new worlds an author created and this was magical and complex, but easy to get into and hooks you right in the plot. The powers of the different gods and competitors really made this story shine and I would have loved to meet more of them and delve deeper into their skills, and I hope to in the second book of this duology! I am impressed that such an amazing and magical world was created in under 400 pages! The cover is stunning and I love the green, so many books are all black and gold. I haven't read anything else by Aiden Thomas but this book made me want to pick up his previous books immediately!
