I've read this author's other books Cemetery boys and Into The Neverwoods, but this is my favorite of theirs so far. It’s extremely rare for me to see a book that lives up to what is it compared to. This actually did so and more. I just read light lark which was also supposed to hold up to the hunger games with more diversity and massively failed in comparison to this. This also succeeded at the Percy Jackson vibes flawlessly. This is a Mexican-inspired fantasy with queer representation, transgender representation and Deaf representation. There are several moments of queer joy and queer pining that had me squealing and also jokes that had me laughing. This book is an entire masterpiece from start to finish. I love Teo, Niya, Aurelio and still Xio(reminded me so much of Nico di Angelo). Queer friends, you’re going to want to read this one!
