I loved The Hunger Games and this story brought me back to that time when competing to survive was all that I wanted to read. I will admit that as an adult it was harder for me to get into, however, it was definitely something I still enjoyed and felt so many emotions while reading! I haven’t read Aiden Thomas before, but the writing is absolutely wonderful and I am excited go to back to read his other works. I loved the world and the story behind it, as well as the characters (especially the birds!). I felt so immersed in the cultures that I haven’t had the joy to experience myself. The insecurity about looks and self really hit home and I identified so much with the struggles. The anxiety and pressure of all the world expecting you to be more but never good enough no matter what you do. There are already so many beautiful editions of this book coming out and I can’t wait for the next one!
